Sometimes, you do not know how great something is until you do not have it anymore. That something for us is TEXAS! Travis and I miss home like crazy, and we are ready to get back so we can appreciate all the things we took for granted before. Until moving back is an option, we will cherish each and every minute we have on our visits back to TEXAS.
Our first trip back was loaded with people to see and things to do. We began our visit with dinner at a small restaurant called Mary's in Strawn. It is famous for chicken fried steak. Travis and I enjoyed our delicious chicken fried steak with Kayce, Louie, Grumpy(Louie's husband), and some of their friends. We went to the Millsap football game after dinner. It was so nice to see many of the people I used to work with, and the kids I had the pleasure of teaching while I was there. As Travis and I were driving to Vernon after the game, I couldn't help but wish Friday night Millsap football games were still part of my weekly routine.
We arrived at my parent's home in Vernon around 1:30am. I had told my mom not to wait up, but while I was in the bathroom getting ready for bed, she barged into the bathroom with a hug, kiss, and tears. This induced my third round of tears of joy with the first coming when the plane touched the ground in San Antonio. I still cannot get over how emotional I was on this trip! After our hellos and miss yous, we all hit the sheets. Travis and I began our morning with a tour of Chris and Criquett's new house, and some treasure hunting in the barns on the property. American Pickers would have a hay day in the barns on their property. Throughout the weekend, we went back and forth between my parents and Travis' parents. We watched a horse show, swam, watched football, visited, shopped, played with Presley and Kirby, and enjoyed good cooking. Travis got to fly in his dad's flying go cart for the first time. My grandparents and aunt and uncle stayed with my parents, so we also got to visit with them. It was a great weekend!!!
Monday, Travis and I went to Fort Worth to stay the night. Travis was not feeling well, so he relaxed in the hotel. I spent the evening with Claire and Kendi. The three of us had dinner at Rio Mambo, and visited at Claire's house. These girls will always be a huge part of my life no matter how far apart we are! Tuesday morning, we enjoyed an IHOP breakfast with Jenny and headed back to the airport.
It was so nice to see most of our friends and family. I am sorry if we did not get a chance to see everyone! Please know that Travis and I miss you all like crazy, and there is not a day to go by that we do not think about you! Love you all!
